Infrastructure projects

The Government of the Republic of Moldova approved on May 20, 2020 the Good Roads for Moldova 2020 Program on regular repair, maintenance of local public roads, municipal roads and streets, with a total budget of 1 375 000,0 thousand lei from the state budget.

The programme was developed under the State Budget Law for 2020 and includes two sub-programmes:

  • The sub-programme for the repair of national public roads, for the implementation of which it is planned to allocate 250 000.0 thousand lei for the capital repair of 86.3 km of roads.
  • The sub-programme for regular repair and maintenance of national, local and municipal public roads and streets, for the implementation of which 1 125 000,0 thousand lei were distributed. The activities planned under this sub-programme involve the improvement of 906 km of roads in about 900 localities in the republic, the sectors having been selected according to the proposals of the first level Local Public Authorities.

The national public road repair programme is based on the priority projects included in the Transport and Logistics Strategy for 2013-2020, roads in the priority network that are not part of international networks and for which project documentation was previously developed.

To determine the volume of allowances, coefficients were used according to the population of the municipality/municipality. When selecting the road sectors, priority is given to sectors that ensure the connection to socio-cultural institutions (schools, kindergartens, medical institutions, etc.), the connection to economic agents that provide services to the population, access from the public road network to the localities, the number of population benefiting from the road.
