PRESS RELEASE
The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization provides clarifications regarding two requests from media representatives.
The information regarding trucks with license plates in the Republic of Moldova, which are stationed at the customs of the Russian Federation, specifies that the export of agricultural products to the Russian Federation takes place under a free trade regime according to the Agreement on the Free Trade Zone among the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) signed in St. Petersburg on October 18, 2011.
As a result, domestic economic agents, who have sustainable economic partnerships with importers from the Russian Federation, continue to export agricultural products to this market, which is also confirmed by the trade statistics of foreign commerce.
Official statistical data regarding export figures, both within the CIS area and the EU, can be found here: https://statistica.gov.md/ro/comertul-international-cu-marfuri-al-republicii-moldova-in-luna-mai-2023-si-in-i-9539_60487.html
Regarding the information about increases in import taxes on wines, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization specifies that the Republic of Moldova is not included in the list of countries for which customs duties on wine imports have been raised.
The exhaustive list of these is provided in Government Order No. 430-р dated March 5, 2022.
