The government has adjusted the secondary regulatory framework in the field of consumer protection and market surveillance, as well as the rules regarding postal services provision

11 October 2023 – The Cabinet of Ministers, at the initiative of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, voted to adjust the secondary regulatory framework in the field of consumer protection and market surveillance, as well as the rules regarding postal services, to meet current international requirements.
The aim is to improve the regulatory framework governing the activities of the State Inspectorate for Non-Food Products Surveillance and Consumer Protection.
Adjustment is necessary in the context of the reorganization of the Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance Agency into the State Inspectorate for Non-Food Product Supervision and Consumer Protection, as well as the approval of the State Control Methodology for Entrepreneurial Activities based on risk analysis conducted by the Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance Agency.
The last provision entails the updating of risk levels assigned to the activities of economic operators subject to control, as identified in accordance with the Classifier of Activities in the Moldovan Economy. It also involves the addition of risk criteria related to consumer protection.
Similarly, the project regarding postal service regulations aims to adapt to current conditions of international mail dispatch, as specified in the Acts of the Universal Postal Union, and to expand the possibilities of using electronic services in the provision and utilization of postal services.
This also provides for the simplification of existing service delivery procedures, adjustment to current international postal shipments conditions, as well as the introduction of the possibility for postal service provider operations to be performed by their subcontractor.
The implementation of the provisions of both projects does not require financial resources from the state budget.
