About the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization (MDED) is the central body authorised to promote state policy in the field of economy and coordinate the economic development of the Republic of Moldova. The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization implements the Government’s strategy and programme in the field of economy and public finance.

Activity

The Ministry carries out its activity in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and the legislation in force, with the decrees of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the decisions of the Parliament, the ordinances, decisions and provisions of the Government, with other normative acts, with the international treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party and with the provisions of the Government Decision No 690 of 13.11.2009 approving the Regulation on the organization and functioning of the Ministry of Economy, its structure and the staff limit of its central apparatus.

The Ministry’s mission is to ensure the growth of the national economy by optimizing the regulatory framework for entrepreneurial activity, creating the conditions for the development of the business environment, technological development and ensuring competitiveness, creating an attractive investment environment, contributing to the actions of demonopolization of the internal market and elimination of anti-competitive practices, as well as through international economic cooperation.

History

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization was established on 1 June 1990 and was called the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization National Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization of the S.S.R. Moldova. Subsequently, over the years, following restructuring within the Moldovan Government, the name of the institution was changed several times.
