The long-term and medium-term policy framework for the development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Republic of Moldova is provided by the Strategy for the Development of the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Sector for 2012-2020 and the Action Plan on the Implementation of this Strategy for 2012-2014. This document responds to the imperative of shifting from the consumption-based model of economic development to a new paradigm oriented towards exports, investment and innovation, the political desire for European integration and global economic trends.
